When you scan a barcode or QR code, Verify2Buy captures an image of the product and sends it to our AI engine for analysis. The AI compares visual elements — packaging design, label layout, fonts, logos, and color patterns — against our verified reference library. It returns a match percentage along with the specific reasons for the result, so you can see exactly what matched or what raised a flag.
This is a known challenge in counterfeit detection. In the current version, if a barcode has been copied from a genuine product and placed on a fake, Verify2Buy can confirm whether the barcode exists in the GS1/UPC database — but cannot detect the physical swap on its own.
In our upcoming release, after scanning, users will be prompted to photograph the product packaging. Our AI will then analyze the images for signs of tampering — inconsistencies in print quality, label placement, or packaging materials — giving a much stronger authenticity verdict even when the barcode itself looks legitimate.
